Definition

The Eisenhower Matrix (also known as the Eisenhower Decision Matrix or the Urgent-Important Matrix) is a useful tool when you want to manage your time efficiently. It works in quite a simple way by helping you to determine which tasks should be your priority.

By correctly using this matrix, you’ll be as effective as efficient !

Why use an Eisenhower matrix?

Edit

This tool allows you to distinguish important tasks from urgent ones.

  • Performing important tasks has the outcome of eventually achieving goals, which is relevant in both your professional and personal life.
  • Urgent activities demand our instant attention because of the negative consequences they bear, should they be left aside.
Edit

A common mistake that many corporate professionals make is to only concentrate on the urgent tasks. However, Eisenhower’s principle involves also focusing on important tasks.

Edit

Differentiating the important from the urgent will prioritize your work schedule. This allows you to reduce stress induced by short deadlines, better use your work time, and thus obtain better results.
